RED HOT WITH “CHARMIN” LARMAN

Image of host Alan Larman and guest

Sunday afternoons from 2 to 4pm.

Host Allen Larman broadcasts the music that time forgot and timeless classics from the greatest artists of times gone by, as well as newer music that feels as familiar as your favorite pair of jeans. It’s American roots music in all its forms, spanning generations and the evolution of “The American Sound”.

From Sonny Terry to Sonny Bono and Hank Williams to Hank Ballard, Red Hot is exactly what it is!

It’s only fitting that Allen Larman hosts a program of eclectic American roots music. After all, his roots run deep in American music. Born and raised in Los Angeles to musically inclined parents (o.k., it's Roz and Howard Larman of the legendary pub–radio program, Folkscene), Allen went to concerts with his mom and dad from the time he was a boy. “The concerts made such and impact on me that I remember the concerts I went to as a kid more vividly than the ones I've been to recently,” he says. “I can still remember the smoking jacket Lightnin’ Hopkins wore on stage when I saw him as a kid.”

Allen is truly dedicated to the local music scene and remains one of the champions of the Los Angeles roots revival started many years ago right here in the City of Angels.

Bob Dylan Tribute Banner and Link

Before emerging as arguably the most important songwriter in rock history, the man born as Robert Zimmerman grew up in a small Minnesota town. Hearkening back to his earliest days, this exhibition–organized by Experience Music Project–chronicles Dylan’s transformation from Midwestern teen to folk troubadour, artistic innovator, and compelling voice of social conscience.

Featuring more than 160 artifacts, including Dylan’s handwritten drafts of classic songs, rare concert posters and a recording of his first concert, the exhibition focuses on the first decade of his celebrated career. Click here for more information
